🌼 UPDATE: Greetings from Mississippi! 🚴🏼‍♂️ I am so heartened by all the generous people in York, PA and across America who have donated to Bell Socialization through this coast to coast bicycle ride fundraiser. (Bell runs the family homeless shelter in my hometown of York). As a result of all those caring folks, we have passed the goal line and are now at over $15,300 raised. I’ve traveled 1,539 miles so far on this 3,600 mile journey.

It’s been wonderful traveling through the south and have met so many kind and interesting people. I’ve also eaten great barbecue and some delicious catfish. I recently camped beside the Black Warrior River and got to see huge barges negotiating the narrow waters. I look forward to crossing the mighty Mississippi in the near future. I’m enjoying being immersed in nature and am finding that sleeping in my hammock suspended from the trees makes for one of the most comfortable night’s sleep available.

As I make my way the remaining 2,061 miles through Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California, I hope we can raise even more money for Bell and beat the goal by a mile. All donations are tax deductible and go directly from GoFundMe to Bell.

PS – Thanks to Larry the photographer who just sent me this photo from my time in Birmingham, Alabama. I bumped into Larry outside a little cafe when he and his friend were out shooting candids downtown. He apparently is a pretty well known photographer in Birmingham area.
